The Brazilian
Astronomical Society (SAB), through its Teaching
Commission (CESAB), organizes annually the Brazilian Astronomy Olympiad
(OBA), which prepares specific tests for each one of the following groups:
level 1 for students from the 1st to the 2nd grade of primary school, level 2
for students from the 3rd to 4th grade of primary school, level 3 for the students
from the 5th to 8sth grade of primary school and level 4 for students of any grade
of secondary school. All details are in the Rules.
The participation of the schools is free but they are required to fill out a registration
form. In 2004 we are going to organize the VII OBA and the tests will take place
on May, 15th at 14:00 h (Brasilia time) simultaneously in all schools previously
registered. The deadline to send the school registration form is April 1st. We
will distribute around 5000 medals and certificates for all participants, including
teachers, as well as some gifts. At the end of the process we will select a team
of 5 students to represent Brazil at the International
Astronomy Olympiad of 2005.
